WHAT IS CACHG?

Capital Area Christian Homeschool Group (CACHG) provides group enrichment classes and encouragement to families in Maryland.  We have families from Prince George's, Anne Arundel, and Montgomery Counties, as well as, Washington D.C.  We meet at a church in the Beltsville area on Wednesday mornings throughout the school year.  We do not require families to conform to any homeschooling philosophy or curriculum. Although we are a faith-based community we do not require church membership or specific denominational allegiance/alliance of any kind.  Jesus welcomed all and so do we.

Our group started 10 years ago as a few local families meeting together for Art, PE, and Music classes twice a month.  Since then it has grown into a diverse and creative group of 25 families working together to make the homeschooling journey fun and supportive for the whole family! We value small classes and friendship building amongst our students, teachers, and parents.  We know finances are tough sometimes and we value keeping costs low and spread them out equally over the group.  Finally, we believe academics are vital but we place priority on community relationships being imperative to encouragement and ultimate success in homeschooling.

THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL SEASON

Registration for the upcoming 2024-2025 school season is opening on March 6, 2024.

If you are interested in booking a shadow day or have questions about registration please reach out to our CACHG Leadership Team on the CONTACT US Page.

ELEMENTARY AGE GROUPS:

3-5; 6-8; & 9-11 YEAR OLDS

Music, PE, and Art are being offered for our 2024-2025 Weekly, In-person Class Package.

Each week on Wednesdays, September to May, our students will enjoy 45 minutes with each of these classes:

MUSIC with Mrs. Tracey - Teamwork, music knowledge, and appreciation will be experienced in various movement and musical opportunities.  Instruments, vocal exercise, and rhythm activities allow the class to have engagement with music beyond just hearing it.  Each week students are encouraged to listen with your head and your heart.

PE with Mrs. Janet - Movement, coordination, strength, and teamwork will be skills worked on each week. Being healthy and confident with your body is essential for growing people!  Join Mrs. Janet for fun and training each week.

ART with Mrs. Heidi - Learn about new artists, mediums, and various technics of expression through weekly projects and hands on opportunities.  Everyone is creative and we encourage every student to let their creative side shine each week.

Please note:  The 3-5 age group is only available to those students with older siblings in our program.

The 3-5 age group only participates in Art & Music Classes weekly.

OLDER GROUPS: (AKA THE O.G.)
12-14 & 15-18 YR OLDS

Our students 12-18 years old are invited to participate throughout the school season in social groups that encourage them to build community and relationship with their peers.  In the 2024-2025 school season our goals are to connect students and strengthen the group through a variety of hands-on, interest-led activity modules & community service at a local food pantry.  These groups have a relaxed vibe with projects that cross the curriculum for your portfolio reviews.

A PARENTAL COMMUNITY

Being part of CACHG is not just for students!  We offer various activities throughout the year for parents too.   Why do we plan for grown-ups too?  YOU need support from other homeschooling parents too!  Yearly we have optional group field trips and social activities for the whole family. we participate and facilitate book and clothing swaps.  Want to meet up at a park, to catch a movie, or a cup of coffee?  We do that too! Pop up events hosted by a various parents are initiated and listed on our closed Facebook Group.
Each fall we try to host a Parent's Night Out with dinner and some game opportunities.  Then in the Spring our annual Mom's Tea Party will take place.  We also host a community Blog Spot here on our website and invite the parents of our co-op to collaborate and contribute their articles.  Homeschooling is a journey for the whole family so at CACHG we believe the whole family needs opportunities to be apart of our community.

ANNUAL COSTS

At CACHG we spread the burden of cost equally across all our families.  So whether you have 2 kids or 5 your fees are the same.  Each family is paying for their "spot" in the community versus each class session or per each child.  This allows us to keep our cost lower than many co-ops and provide a variety of enrichment and social opportunities.  This also means we rely on our families to stick with us throughout the school season in order to compensate our teachers fairly and pay for the overhead costs a co-op incurs.

For the 2024-2025 School Year, "New Families" make an enrollment payment of $75 to the co-op.  Returning Families from 2023-2024 school year will make a $60 enrollment payment.

This fee or deposit secures your spot in our community for the coming year.

Weekly, In-person Classes have an additional monthly fee of $70 per family, broken down in separate installments to the teachers and co-op.  The payments are: $12 to each teacher, as well as, a $22 co-op fee.

This co-op fee covers group insurance, website maintenance, facility rental fees, and any other costs incurred by the group.  All leadership team members serve as volunteers and co-op teachers are independent contractors.  As such, the teachers receive payment from you directly on a schedule you choose - monthly, per trimester, or once yearly.  Co-op fees are paid directly to the group via PayPal in a similar schedule of your choosing.

Do you have questions about this breakdown?

Please feel free to reach out to our Leadership Team via email, cachgcontact@gmail.com or

by filling out the Contact Us form on our website.

We would be happy to go over it with you.

CLASS OUTLINES & LESSON PLANS

In all our age group classes teachers provide outlines and lesson plans to use in your homeschool portfolio review.  Teachers list objectives, materials used, and activities completed.  We use a closed Facebook page for enrolled families to share pictures for reference as well.  Outlines are provided to give parents an ideas of what each age group will be covering in the coming school season.  At the annual Back to School Event the formal lesson plans will be provided by each teacher to all the families.  Digital copies of all lesson plans will be uploaded into the files section of the group's closed Facebook page throughout the school season for reference or retreival.
